Greetings from the Embassy of India in Japan.

 

As part of our efforts to keep the Japanese industry updated about policy changes in India relating to your interests, we would like to bring to your attention the recently announced Round 2 of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for IT Hardware. Please find attached a Flyer and the Official Notification (consists of English & Hindi translations) of the scheme.

 

Key Details of PLI IT Hardware Round 2:

・Objective: Create globally competitive IT Hardware products and cater to rising demand while supporting the creation of a robust electronics & components ecosystem in India

・Incentive: Provides an average incentive of 5% (includes localization) on net incremental sales of eligible products

・Applicant must localize PCBA and Assembly in the first year

・At least one out of the total list of components / sub-assemblies (mentioned in Annexure B of the notification) must be localized from the second year onwards

・Additional incentives are provided for increased localization!

・Incentives are provided if eligibility on basis of incremental sales and incremental investment are met (as mentioned in Annexure A of notification)

・Eligible Products / Target Segments: Laptops, Tablets, All-in-One PCs, Servers, Ultra Small Form Factor (USFF)

・Tenure of the Scheme: 6 years

・Budgetary Outlay: US$ 2.1 Bn (INR 17,000 Crore) will be provided as fiscal incentives to approved applicants

・PLI 2.0 for IT Hardware shall be open for applications for only 45 days initially which may be extended.

 

Incentives offered by State Governments in India will be over and above incentives under the PLI scheme, i.e, investors can leverage both Central and State Government incentives for electronics manufacturing.
